Bible and Academic Competition

 

The Bible and Academic Competition has been organized to provide a challenge toward academic excellence among the schools within the Heartland Christian Conference, which includes New Hope Christian Academy.

The 2019-2020 Bible and Academic Competition will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 8:00am - 3:00pm at Trinity Christian School (1218 W Freeman St., Carbondale).

Eligibility of Contestants

New Hope Christian Academy (NHCA) students in grades 4 and higher participate in the Heartland Christian Conference Bible and Academic Competition. Competition is divided into three categories (Academics, Art, Bible). Each student may enter a maximum of three performance events and six non-performance events. All NHCA students in 4th grade and higher are required to participate in at least one competition category.


For NHCA students, entry into non-performance competition categories are first come, first sign up. NHCA students must speak with the principal in-person during school hours and sign the appropriate sign up sheet in the office's Bible and Academic Competition folder.


For NHCA students, entry into performance events will be earned by participation in pre-competition qualifying events held in March at NHCA leading up to the Bible and Academic Competition in April.

Click here for the entry form to be submitted for every Non-performance Event (Art, Creative Writing, Needlework, Photography, Science Exhibit, and Woodworking). Students participating in non-performance events also need to download the Non-performance Event Checklist.


Additional Dates: All Creative Writing submissions must be delivered to the judging schools before 3:00pm on Monday, March 16, 2020. All other Non-performance Event categories must be delivered to the host school before 5:00pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Judging of Non-performance Event categories will be completed on / by Wednesday, April 1.


All students are required to download and read the Moderator's Guidelines to participate in the HCC Bible and Academic Competition.

Note: All NHCA students in 4th grade and higher are required to participate in at least one competition category. Participation in the competition will be counted as a pass/fail grade. A student that participates will receive a 100 grade that will be the equivalent to a test grade. A student that does not participate will receive a zero grade that will be the equivalent to a test grade.
